Lucky Bear Lodge
Whether you’re visiting Ruidoso for skiing in winter or hiking in summer, you’ll fall for the upscale amenities, stunning views, and cozy charm of Lucky Bear Lodge. The home has 3 bedrooms, and a 4-legged friend or 2, so long as they’re at least 2 years old.
As soon as you step into the living room you’ll feel right at home. The plush couch, the wood-and-stone walls, and the gas fireplace invite you to kick back and relax after a day on the slopes or the trails. Watch a movie on the flat-screen TV with cable, surf the web via the free WiFi, curl up with a good book, or indulge in a well-deserved nap—you’re on vacation now!
The dining table, which features a cask as a pedestal, seats at least 4, and there’s room for several more at the adjacent breakfast bar. The breakfast bar doubles as additional kitchen counter space. The kitchen itself is fully equipped with stainless-steel appliances, cookware, tableware, and gadgets. Even if you eat most of your meals out, you’ll appreciate the convenience of having a refrigerator so that you can keep milk cold and a coffeemaker for that all-important first cup of the day. Lucky Bear Lodge also has a grill on its front porch. If you reel in any fish—perhaps at Seeping Springs Trout Lake—you can cook it right there for a hearty mountain dinner.
Upstairs is the master bedroom with a king-size bed and a guest bedroom with a queen. The 3rd bedroom, located downstairs, is accessible via a separate entrance. It has its own queen-size bed, TV, and bathroom. This set-up makes Lucky Bear Lodge especially well suited for 2 couples vacationing together.
Lucky Bear Lodge is located in a quiet neighborhood, but it’s not far from the area’s attractions. The home is less than 10 minutes from the Sierra Blanca, home to southern New Mexico’s highest peak. A golf course, the Links at Sierra Blanca, is here, as is Ski Apache, where in addition to skiing and snowboarding you can whiz over the mountains via zip line or explore the area via mountain bike or on foot. Just as close is Grindstone Lake and Trail System, where you can fish, boat, hike, mountain bike, horseback ride, and play disc golf; you might also see ospreys, mule deer, black bears, elk, and eagles while you’re here. In only 15 minutes you can drive to Ruidoso Winter Park for snow tubing and more zip-line action. For less-strenuous activity, there’s Ruidoso Downs horse track, Billy the Kid Casino, and a trove of art galleries. And the kids will have a blast at Pillow’s Funtrackers, with its mini golf, go-kart tracks, arcade, and other attractions.
However you spend your days, you’ll love returning to the serenity and comfort of Lucky Bear Lodge at night. Note that during the winter months you’ll need either a 4x4 or chains on a 2-wheel drive vehicle—but then again, one of the reasons to visit Ruidoso in the winter is for the snow! Book your stay today, and see for yourself why New Mexico is called the Land of Enchantment.
