Aurora Montealis
Where you'll be
Description
When you first cross the threshold into Aurora Montealis you’ll immediately be struck by two things: your cozy, comfortable great room and the incredible wall of sliding glass doors letting nature’s beauty into the cabin.
Even though you are high in the New Mexico Mountains, at Aurora Montealis you have all the modern conveniences of your everyday life. You’ll have three TVs, three DVD players, and free Wi-Fi within your vacation home. It’s nice to be able to gather your group for movie night and also to check out websites for area attractions right in the comfort of your Aurora Montealis living room.
You also have a gas fireplace that adds to the cozy mountain ambiance of Aurora Montealis, and there’s central air so the home is comfortable in summer. The gravel driveway is steep with two sharp corners. Longer wheelbase vehicles may have to maneuver to make the two switchbacks in the driveway. You can park below and walk up. When you arrive at Aurora Montealis you’ll know it was definitely worth the drive!
Your kitchen and dining room are part of your large great room. Even though you may want to eat many meals out in Ruidoso restaurants, when you want to dine in you’ll find everything you need to prepare your favorite recipes. Just stop by the grocery to pick up food. From prep to serving ware, you’ll find a full complement of pans, dishes, utensils, and appliances. You’ll especially appreciate having a gas stove that gives you better control over your cooking temperatures.
Getting dinner on the table is quick and easy too. The table is just steps from the kitchen and situated right by your beautiful fireplace. What fun you and your guests will have reliving your day’s adventures around this table. This table is also the perfect size for games. Grab a deck of cards and play some Bridge. You also have the option to take your dinner out on the deck where you can enjoy the sights and sounds of the forest. Food always seems to taste better in the great outdoors.
You’ll spend your days golfing at Cree Meadows Golf Course, fishing in Grindstone Lake, shopping in Ruidoso, hiking in the forest, or skiing at Ski Apache Resort. Whatever your chosen activity, when night time comes, you’re bound to be tuckered out. That’s when your primary bedroom will look like a million bucks. Your primary is outfitted with a queen-sized bed and TV perfectly positioned for late night viewing. Of course, you may prefer to spend your last moments before sleep out on the deck watching the stars come out over the forest. You have a sliding glass door from your bedroom to the deck so it’s easy to slip out for a private moment with nature.
Guests will be equally delighted with their sleeping accommodations. In addition to a queen-sized bed, they also have a deck off their bedroom and a ceiling fan to gently stir the air-conditioned air. There’s also a separate sitting area on the second floor with its own TV.
Each bedroom has its own private en-suite with shower/tub combination and a vanity with plenty of space to store toiletries. Aurora Montealis’ washer and dryer, tucked away downstairs, makes keeping everyone in clean clothes so easy. It’s a convenience everyone in your group will appreciate.

Redo the driveway, very difficult to get up, if there had been rain or snow getting up the driveway would have been impossible

Our stay at Aurora Monealis was very enjoyable. Incredible views from the deck great proximity to town. Our only concern was lack of true cable on the TV. We weren\'t able to watch any live sports such as NFL football.

This place is nice enough for a short weekend getaway, I\'ll give it a 7/10. It does need some repairs. Small things like toilet holders coming off the wall, lightbulbs burned out in a few places, the toilet kept running, and roll curtain controls broken. If someone would just spend an hour or two to eliminate those small things.... Also, the furniture is a bit dated, the bed was meh, and the cabin feels like it could use a few basic updates. The driveway was a bit tricky, you need 4x4 because it\'s a bit steep and with an F150 you\'ll have to poke a few times to make the turn, definitely take your time. It is easy to get to from Mechem and you\'re better off using Rainbow Rd instead of Ebmdy. Inside, the place was clean. The only thing that wasn\'t clean was the outside sitting area; at least get the dust out of the pillows if you\'re charging a hefty cleaning fee. Sitting on the deck was great; the view is incredible, and it\'s nice and quiet.

It\'s a cute little quaint cabin with spectacular views. very nicely decorated and equipped. the only problem was no local channels on tv in the living room and we were there during the playoffs. Had to watch in tiny tv in bedroom. no biggy, just fyi. our fireplace didnt turn on, but they quickly sent someone to fix it. loved the fireplace. i will probably look for something bigger next time. its a small place to run away to for the weekend. the view really is spectacular though!
