Hummingbird Oasis is located near the end of a cul-de-sac in Alto, a quiet bedroom community just outside Ruidoso. From the pine-speckled property you can see the Sierra Blanca range. During warmer weather you’ll want to make the most of the views and the fresh mountain air by relaxing on the spacious rear deck. Along with a seating area, the deck includes a grill and a table, complete with sun umbrella, for dining alfresco. If you reel in any trout from Alto Lake, less than 10 minutes away, you can cook it on the grill and then savor it outdoors; the singing of finches and nuthatches will make the ideal background music. Afterward, relax in the backyard’s hot tub. The massaging jets of steamy water will feel so rejuvenating after a day of hiking or horseback riding. And at night, beneath the canopy of stars, a soak can be wonderfully romantic too.
Indoors is a large dining table that seats eight people, along with a breakfast bar with four stools. The breakfast bar doubles as additional counter space for Hummingbird Oasis' roomy kitchen. Equipped with stainless-steel appliances and plenty of cookware and tableware, the kitchen can handle even a multi-course holiday feast.
The house’s open floor plan means that even as you cook in the kitchen you can take part in the conversation at the dining table or watch a movie on the living area’s large flat-panel TV. Furnished with three plush couches and a chaise, the living area easily accommodates a small crowd. On brisk winter evenings you’ll love gathering by the wood-burning fireplace, hot chocolate or Irish coffee in hand.
While the primary suite hosts a king-size bed, the two guest rooms feature queen-size beds and all three have their own TV. Hummingbird Oasis has three full bathrooms, including the en-suite primary bath. We’ll provide all the clean towels you could possibly require, and the beds will be beautifully made up by the time you arrive, so you can make a shower or a nap your first order of business. For added convenience, the house has its own washer and dryer along with a driveway to accommodate multiple vehicles.
As fun-filled and rejuvenating as Hummingbird Oasis is, people don’t visit the Ruidoso area simply to lounge by the house. In addition to the trout-stocked lake, the Alto Lake and Recreation Area has trails for hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking. Equally close is Ruidoso Winter Park, with snow tubing in winter and zip lining year-round. A bit farther out is Grindstone Lake and Trail System, where you can fish, boat, hike, ride mountain bikes and horses, and play disc golf; you might also see ospreys, mule deer, black bears, elk, and eagles while there. And in only 40 minutes you can drive to Ski Apache, where in addition to skiing and snowboarding you can whiz over the mountains via zip line or explore the area via mountain bike or on foot.
