Let me begin my review by saying that my husband and I have been renting at the Hilton Head Beach & Tennis Club for ten years, but this was our first time renting through VTrips. The unit itself was one of the best units we have stayed in. It had a great view, great features in the kitchen, and was clean/new feeling. The experience in dealing with VTrips, however, was truly terrible. When we arrived the unit felt a bit warm, but we didn't think much of it. As the days went on the temperature continued to rise, until it was 80 inside, and we reached out to VTrips to come check the AC. We called on Saturday at 3:30 pm, and were told that there was no service company that could come check the unit. The next morning, we still hadn't heard anything back from Vtrips, so we called at 9:30 am, and were told that they would send over a staff member to “see if the AC was really broken.†They came at noon, installed a new filter, and told us to call back in an hour if it wasn't cooler. It wasn't, so we called back, and the response from Nick at VTrips was truly appalling. He was dismissive and rude, and even told us that he didn't understand why we were even complaining, though he “could see why some people might think the unit was a bit warm.†When the AC repair man came, he worked for several hours, and said that there were several problems with that unit, but that he at least made a temporary repair that would solve the problem for us. At no point after this, did we ever hear back from VTrips. No one called to see if the problem had been solved, or to let us know of any other future repairs taking place, so we were shocked when we came back from the pool a few days later to find the AC repairman standing in our unit. While I know that the unit owners can allow whoever they want into the unit, it felt like a real violation of our space/belongings to know that random people were being allowed into the unit while we were renting it. All of our wallets, IDs, and valuables were out, and it was unnerving to walk in and find a stranger standing amongst our things without us being notified that this would be occurring. It also made us wonder, who else may have been in the unit while we were there? We love Hilton Head, and will certainly be coming back, but with so many other rental companies/owners to rent with, we will definitely be avoiding VTrips, and would recommend that others do the same.
We will surely be talking with our office about this customer service experience that you encountered! We completely understand the frustration and inconvenience. Our office does do its best to stay on top of these occurrences but please let us know if there is anything else we can do!
