The screened-in lanai will probably be a favorite hangout spot during your stay at Manatee Cottage. This is where you’ll find the heated in-ground pool, which has broad steps for easy access. Start your morning with laps before the others wake up and end your evening floating beneath the star-studded sky. In between, when you’re not in the water, you can laze on a poolside chaise and watch the boats sail by on the canal. You can even cook and dine alfresco out here. In addition to a gas grill (perfect for barbecuing trout or snapper you reeled in yourself), the patio has a table in the shady alcove.
Of course, you can cook and dine inside as well—and once you see Manatee Cottage’s spacious kitchen, you’ll be eager to work your culinary magic. Stainless-steel appliances, granite countertops, a bevy of cookware and tableware, loads of storage: The kitchen has it all. It also boasts not one but two breakfast bars, each of which seats three people. Meal prep can be a group activity! When you’re not eating at the breakfast bars you can sit down at the dining table. An homage to Saarinen’s Tulip table, an icon of modern design, the table seats four in equally chic (and comfortable) chairs.
Manatee Cottage’s open layout means that the kitchen, the dining area, and the living area seamlessly flow into one another. Everyone can spend time together while still enjoying private time and plenty of space. The living area consists of two separate sitting areas, each with its own flat-screen TV and large enough to accommodate the whole family. Or if you prefer, the kids can sprawl out with their toys and games in the more casual sitting area while the adults chat over after-dinner drinks in the more formal area. Furnished in exceptional Mid-Century Modern style, this space is especially well suited to entertaining friends.
With a sumptuous king-size bed, the primary suite is a retreat in and of itself. Prop yourself up against the tufted, padded headboard and watch a movie on the HDTV, surf the web (Manatee Cottage has complimentary WiFi), read, or simply let the gentle breeze of the ceiling fan lull you to sleep. The en-suite primary bathroom includes a gorgeous tiled shower.
Furnished with a pair of twin-size beds and an HDTV of its own, the second bedroom is perfect for the kids. There’s a second full bathroom as well. Having a bathroom for each bedroom makes it so much easier for everyone to get ready in the morning and for a night out.
Sleep may be the last thing on your mind, however; there’s simply too much to see and do. You can tie a boat to the pier adjacent to the property's dock and sail along the canal out to Matanzas Bay, or simply stroll along the canal and look out for the dolphins that frequent the area. In less than 10 minutes you can walk to the famed white sands of Fort Myers Beach and the Gulf of Mexico; once there, you can swim, parasail, paddleboard, fish, canoe, kayak, or simply stretch out on a blanket and watch dolphins cavort among the boats as seagulls soar overhead. Also nearby are restaurants, shops, Lovers Key State Park, and so much more.
Manatee Cottage lets you make your dreams of waterfront living a reality. Book your stay today… before someone else beats you to it.
