The house’s huge deck, overlooking the lagoon, gives you a front-row seat to spectacular sunrises. Furnished with a table and chairs, it’s also a great spot to enjoy a meal as the breeze rustles through the palm trees and seabirds soar above. As well as eating outdoors, you can cook there too, thanks to the barbecue grill. There’s nothing better than grilling up some trout or snapper you reeled in earlier that day and savoring it outside in the salt-scented sea air!
If cooking and eating indoors is more your thing, rest assured that Lazy Lagoon has a fully outfitted eat-in kitchen. It’s equipped with all your major appliances (full-size refrigerator/freezer, oven/stove, microwave), plenty of smaller ones (including the all-important coffee maker!), plus cookware, prep tools, and tableware. All you need to bring is the food and an appetite!
And if you don’t want to cook at all, you’re in luck: Lazy Lagoon is a short walk to the restaurants (and bars and shops) of Fort Myers Beach’s Times Square area. Or you can hop on the trolley that runs the length of the island to head to the eateries and shops of Santini Marina Plaza.
There’s more to a vacation than eating, of course; there’s sleeping! Lazy Lagoon’s bedroom has a spacious queen-size bed. Open the blinds before calling it a night, and in the morning you’ll wake to a stream of sunshine courtesy of the room’s 2 windows.
Then again, you might not want to spend too much time sleeping, as there’s so much to do when you’re awake. The velvety beach is renowned for its fine white sands--so much so that the American Sand Sculpting Championship is held here every year. It’s also a font of seashells, perfect souvenirs of your vacation! If you’re bringing your canine companion--Lazy Lagoon allows you to bring a pet that weighs less than 25 pounds--take him for a stroll on the beach and watch the dolphins and manatees play in the water and the pelicans dive-bomb for their next meal.
When you’re not basking or beachcombing, you can paddleboard, swim, jet ski, kayak, or parasail in the serene gulf waters. The fishing is fabulous, and you’re so close to the pier. And make a point of catching the red-and-gold sunset over the gulf at least once during your stay. You’re only a couple of blocks away, so you have no reason not to!
Should you wish to go farther afield, you can take a casino cruise or a boat ride to Sanibel Island. Or drive to the mainland--the bridge that will take you over the Matanzas Pass to the city of Fort Myers is only a few blocks away.
And if even building a sandcastle on the beach feels too strenuous, kick back in Lazy Lagoon’s living room and watch a movie on the HDTV with DVD player, or catch up on email thanks to the cottage’s free wifi.
Your vacation at Lazy Lagoon can be as laid-back or as action-packed as you like. Before you can decide how you want to spend it, though, you need to book your stay. So go ahead--reserve your vacation today!
